Taylor Swift used a portion of her Video of the year to announce a surprise: Her 10th album, midnights, will be released in just two months. It is due out on Oct. 21. She addressed her fans and said that she had “sort of made my mind that you were going to give us this,” referring to the Video of the year award. “I thought it might have been a fun moment for me to tell you that my brand new album is out October 21st. To build excitement for the rollout, she changed her social media bios from “meet me midnight” to “tell you more at midnight.” Soon, the phrase became a popular hashtag on Twitter.
Swift provided ample details about her 10th studio album and revealed the album artwork when she arrived at 12 a.m.
When will the album be out?
Swift announced the release date at the MTV VMAs before any other information: Friday, October 21, 2022. The release will take place at midnight, just like her other works. This is especially fitting given the name of the album. Fans pointed out that Kim Kardashian’s birthday is Oct 21, 2022. More telling is the sum of the digitals: 10 + 2 + 1 = 13 Swift’s most beloved Easter egg number, and the number tracks on midnights.
Swift gave a more detailed breakdown of the album’s release date Monday, October 17, at midnight.
- Thursday 20 October: Teaser trailer for the third quarter on Thursday night football on Prime Video. Swift did not specify whether the teaser trailer was for a full album or “Anti-Hero“, the music video that will be released on October 21 at 8 AM EST.

- October 21, 2013, at 3:00 EST: “Special Very Chaotic Surprise”

Is this another re-recording album?
Swift’s Oct. 21 album is a brand new original work. Swift didn’t announce when her re-recordings 1989 and Reputation would be released.
Which songs will be on the album? Which singles will there be?
Swift did not share a track listing at first, but she said that there will be 13 new songs on the album. She gave some details about the album’s content during her midnight announcement: “Midnights are the stories of 13 sleepless night scattered throughout my life. They will be out on October 21. Meet me at midnight.” She still hasn’t announced her first single.

What’s the album about? Is the album based on Swift?
Swift explained the theme and premise of her project when she announced it. Swift wrote:

Midnights will be published on October 21. Meet me at midnight.Swift spoke a bit about the songs and showed her first track, “Lavender Haze,” which would focus on her six-year relationship to Joe Alwyn.
She said that “Lavender Haze” is track 1 of Midnights. “Lavender haze was a phrase I came across while watching Mad Men. It sounded cool so I searched it. It turns out it was a popular phrase in the 1950s that described being in love. If you felt the ‘lavender fog‘, then you were experiencing that all-encompassing love glow. That was beautiful to me.
She said, “I suppose, theoretically speaking, that when you’re in the lavender haze you’ll do anything to stay there.” And not allow people to bring you down from that cloud. This is something that I believe a lot of people need to face now. Not just as ‘public figures’. We live in an era where the world can find out if someone is in love with them. We’ve had to deal with weird rumours and tabloid stuff for six years, just like my relationship. This song is about the act that you ignore the tabloid stuff in order to protect the real stuff.
Swift shared five themes that inspired midnights on Spotify before the album was released.
Swift‘s first tweet was posted on Monday, October 17th: “The first thing that kept my awake at night and inspired the midnights album was self-loathing.”
Will Swift tour in support of this album?
Swift has not yet announced any tour dates. Swift‘s last tour announcement about was February 2021. She referred to her Lover Fest cancelled dates and explained why she didn’t plan on rescheduling them. She wrote:
I enjoy coming here to share the good news with you, or to start a new project. It is not something I enjoy to have to share with you sad news. Sorry, I can’t reschedule the shows we have postponed. Even though refunds were available after the Lover Fest shows were postponed, many of your tickets were still valid and I also believed that we could reschedule.
This unprecedented pandemic has changed everyone’s plans. No one knows what the future holds for touring. It’s so disappointing that I won’t be able see you in person as soon and as often as I would like. You are so much missed and I can’t wait to see you again at the shows. – Taylor Swift
However, a source revealed on September 30, 2022 that she was planning something very soon: a “massive stadium touring” in the summer 2023.
One insider said that Taylor has ambitious plans. “She is excited to be back on the road after such an extended but productive break.”
Rumours circulated throughout the month that Swift would be performing at the Super Bowl Halftime Show. Swift could perform at the Super Bowl Halftime show. Swift has an ongoing contract with Coca-Cola and Pepsi sponsors it. However, Apple took over this year. TMZ reported she declined the offer because she didn’t want to perform until her older albums are rerecorded. She has Taylor Swift and Speak Now left. She will finish them all next summer. Taylor Swift is the only person who can do it.

Swift has provided any previews of Nights?
Swift posted a TickTok on Friday, September 16th. She captioned it: “The making Midnights..” The montage offered hints and clues to the fans about the album’s creation. The video includes clips of Swift playing the piano, recording vocals and walking through a snowstorm with Benjamin.
The clips also show Jack Antonoff, a glimpse that seems to confirm Swift’s return as producer. Variety reports the TikTok has a shot of Antonoff’s studio.
Swift also explained in a recent TikTok that there are four album covers for Late Night and that when they are combined they create a clock that “helps you tell the time”.
Swift uploaded another tipTok on September 21st, from a series called Mayhem With Me. Swift revealed track listing one at a time. The track 13 was titled “Mastermind” and it was the first to be revealed.
Swift chose to reveal the track name using a Bingo cage. Each bingo cage printed with a different song title. Swift posted the series each day. Other names include “Track 2 Maroon“, “Track 6 Midnight Rain“, “Track 7 Question …?,'” and “Track8 Vigilante Shit.”
